Concept

You are an apprentice mage taking the entrance exam for the Academy of Kinetic Magic, and you must learn how to use the 5 magical gems to solve puzzles for your exam.

Role

I was required to create prop and UI/UX designs to emphasise a comic-book like aesthetic with European design motifs.

Characters

Our game required an instructor character, and to add fantasy elements, I thought it would be interesting for the instructor to be a cat wearing a uniform.

Props

Our prop designs were heavily infuenced by European Baroque architecture, such as the State Hall of the Austrian National Library. These details are seen in the trims and details of our props.

To solve the limitation of not having visible player hands, I needed a staff that would not show the player’s hands in the viewport. To do this, I used familiar first-person shooter elements such as guns to design our staff.

Interface

Our UI design is heavily based off Art Nouveau, using natural elements such as fleur-de-lis and vines throughout our interface.
